Frequently
Asked Questions:
-
How
is the Puppy Lounge different from other
pet resorts?
The
Puppy Lounge was created with you and your
little dog's health, safety and happiness
in mind. This goal is reflected in many
ways.
This family-owned and
operated resort is truly a "home away from home"
for your dog! Your dog will be loved
whether it's for a few daycare hours or an
overnight stay. Each dog receives the
care and attention that suits its
personality, needs and activity
level. No wonder all our furry
friends are so excited to come back again
and again!
Your
first visit will reveal a wonderful, colorful
place that is truly clean and sweet
smelling. Most places use mops as
their main cleaning tool which leaves harsh
chemicals and dirty water all over the
floors and furniture. We have
invested in expensive floor scrubbers and steam
cleaners that don't leave residue on
the floors and reduce the number of
chemicals your pet comes in contact with on a
daily basis. Basically, we provide
an oasis that is as natural, safe and
environmentally friendly as possible.
These are just a few examples
how we go the extra mile! Come on in to
find out all the ways we are different than
every place in town!
-
Why
is it important for my dog to join the Puppy
Lounge community?
Your pooch
will be healthier and happier with regular
daycare visits at the Puppy Lounge. Dogs
love the opportunity to run, play and socialize
with other dogs. All of
us pet parents enjoy providing such care for our
pups, even while we are busy and unable to do it
ourselves!
It is no longer necessary for our furry
friends to stay home alone or suffer
from a lack of exercise while we take
care of life's responsibilities.
As
the Puppy Lounge becomes ‘a home away from
home’, you can feel comfortable that your dog is
having a wonderful time during daycare,
overnight stays and grooming
appointments. The staff will give
your pet so much individual attention and
care that your dog will always know it is cared
for and loved while you are
away.
- Does
my pet have to be a certain age to
attend?
Puppies must be a
minimum of 12 weeks of age in order to be
admitted. Puppies under 6 months of age are
required to have two set of DHPP and
Bordetella vaccinations, but are not required to
have their Rabies vaccination until 6 months of
age. It is the ongoing responsibility of
the owner to provide verification that
vaccinations are current - we will make every
effort to remind you before your dog's
vaccinations expire.
- Is
the Puppy Lounge properly set up to care for all
dog breeds?
The Puppy Lounge is
a resort exclusively for small breed dogs.
However, due to the type of setup of the
facility, the Puppy Lounge cannot accomodate
certain breeds of dogs while ensuring their
safety and the safety of others. These
breeds include:
-Jack Russell, Rat Terrier,
Scottish Terrier, Boston Terrier, Cairn Terrier
and any possible mixes of these
breeds. This
list is not all inclusive.
We would be happy to give recommendations
for facilities that are better equipped to
ensure the safety of your pup!
- How
can my pet join the Puppy
Lounge?
Your dog must complete a
one-time screening evaluation/interview with
a Puppy Lounge staff member to ensure that
your dog's size and temperament is a good fit
with our other furry guests (safety is our top
priority, and aggressive or unfriendly behavior
can be dangerous for both dogs and staff members
alike). Interviews must be scheduled with us in
advance. Please note that we MUST have proof of
current vaccinations in order to conduct the
temperament test with your dog.
- What
shots do my pets need?
All dogs
need to be current on the Rabies, Bordetella (Please
alternate intranasal and injectable Bordetella
every 6 months), and DHLPP
vaccinations. Owners must submit
written proof of current vaccinations by either
providing us with a copy of your dog's
vaccination records, or by having your vet fax
the records directly to us.
- What
are the spay/neuter
requirements?
All dogs over 6
months of age must be spayed or neutered.
- Why
is it important for my dog to be clean
and healthy?
All dogs must
be clean and in good health, and must not have
fleas. Any pet arriving with fleas / ticks
will be bathed and dipped at the owner's
expense. We adhere to strict cleaning procedures
to prevent the spread of pests.
Owners
will certify that their dogs are in good health
and have not been ill with a communicable
condition in the last 30 days. Dogs that have
been ill with a communicable condition in the
last 30 days will require a veterinary
certificate of health to be admitted or
re-admitted. Any dog with diarrhea will be
removed from daycare and will not be able to
socialize with the other dogs until this problem
has been resolved (we encourage dogs with
diarrhea to have a fecal float before being
re-admitted to daycare).
- What
forms must be completed for my dog to join the
Puppy Lounge?
All dogs must have
a complete, up-to-date and approved application
and medical power of attorney on file.
- Will
my dog fit in at the Puppy
Lounge?
Dogs that
are non-aggressive and non-food or toy
protective are welcome to schedule a doggie
interview. Owners will certify their dogs have
not harmed or shown any aggressive or
threatening behavior towards any person or any
other dogs. Please remember that your pet will
be spending time with other pets and the safety
and health of all animals is our main concern.
- How
early do I need to make holiday
reservations?
Over the holidays
we do fill up, so please do this as soon as
possible. A deposit is required to hold a
holiday reservation. Also, the Puppy
Lounge often has special hours and drop off/pick
up schedules during holidays. Please call
for more information.

cancellations must be made with no less than 72
hours notice for a refund. All other
cancellations with less than 24 hours notice
will be charged one night's fees or

given, illness to be treated, areas to be
treated, etc.
- What
type of risks are involved in doggie

Owners also acknowledge that dogs are
unpredictable in behavior, and are aware of the
risks involved in such play, and assume all
risks.

time-out?
In order to maintain a
safe play environment for the dogs, any dog that
misbehaves will be given a time-out from the
daycare area.
